Virtual Big Latch On
The Global Big Latch On encourages and supports communities to make breastfeeding a normal part of day-today life and identifies opportunities to provide ongoing support for all families. On August 1st 2020, we hosted the third annual Gainesville Big Latch On virtually over Zoom. We all missed our big in person event but we also really enjoyed the ability to still gather virtually! We had 50 total attendees, including supporters and children and we had 21 latches. Children who latched on ranged in age from 1 week to 4 years old! These numbers were counted towards a worldwide count for the Global Big Latch On.

On July 31st, August 1st and 2nd, 2020, 12,158 people around the world took part in the Big Virtual Latch On, demonstrating their support for breastfeeding. At the specified time, 6,288 children ‘latched’ and were breastfed.
